The 2009 Holiday Season is quickly approaching and most Americans are buying gifts and making plans for Holiday dinners.
Unfortunately some families will not be exchanging gifts this Holiday. As a matter of fact, with unemployment currently around 10%, many families are struggling to make ends meet and are in danger of going hungry this Holiday Season. Can you imagine agonizing between eating or paying your bills? Some families are having to do just that.
Did you know that according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 36.2 million people lived in households considered to be food insecure in 2007? Out of that 36.2 million, 12.4 million were children. These children are spread all across the United States with many in South Carolina and yes, even here on the Grand Strand.
We at Feed A Family would like to put a dent in hunger in South Carolina. For the fourth year in a row, our organization will help feed families in and around Myrtle Beach. Last year we succeeded in feeding 550 families. Our goal again will be 550 families. That is 550 families that will not be hungry this Christmas.
With your help and generosity, we can put smiles on the faces, love in the hearts, and warm food in the stomachs of 550 families.
This holiday season, let’s join together to feed families with food insecurity. Let us show our thanks and appreciation for all we have been blessed with in our lives by bringing blessings into the lives of others.
